My Witchy Morning Routine as a Stay-at-Home Mom

ree

(Yes, You Can Still Be Magical in Pajamas)

Let’s be real: my mornings aren’t always peaceful and perfectly lit with incense smoke and sunlight. I’m a stay-at-home mom to a wildly creative 6-year-old, and most mornings involve snacks, cuddles, and maybe a little chaos. But even in the messy, noisy, beautiful swirl of motherhood, I’ve found ways to weave in a little magic. Witchcraft doesn’t have to be aesthetic; it just has to be intentional.

Here’s a peek into how I gently start my day with a bit of witchy energy.

☕ Step 1: Slow Sips & Setting Energy

After I wake up (which is usually because of my daughter asking for breakfast), I head straight to the kitchen and make coffee or tea. This is where the magic starts.

Witchy Tip: I stir clockwise for intentions I want to call in, like peace, energy, or creativity, and counter-clockwise for things I want to banish, like stress or brain fog.

Sometimes I even whisper my intention as I stir:

“Energy flows gently into me.”“I release yesterday’s heaviness.”

If I’m drinking herbal tea, I pick a blend based on how I feel: mint for clarity, chamomile for calm, or rose for self-love.

🔥 Step 2: Candle & Quiet Moment

Once things have settled (and Harper is happily playing or watching something), I take a few minutes at my altar, or my “witchy corner,” really, and light a small candle.

Witchy Tip: I use white for cleansing energy, pink for love and peace, or purple if I’m working on my intuition that week.

Even if it’s just five minutes, I take a few deep breaths, set an intention for the day, and maybe pull a single tarot or oracle card to guide me.

If I don’t have time for a full ritual, I at least light the candle and say something like:

“Today I walk with clarity and compassion.”

🌿 Step 3: Magical Maintenance

While I tidy up or make breakfast, I sneak in little magical habits:

  • Wiping down counters with homemade spray (infused with mint, rosemary, or lemon)

  • Playing music that lifts the energy of the house, sometimes lo-fi, sometimes witchy ambiance, sometimes Disney because… well, mom life

  • Wearing crystal jewelry or slipping a stone in my pocket, depending on what I need (rose quartz for calm, obsidian for protection)

Witchy Tip: Cleaning can be a ritual. I often say, “Out with the old, in with the clean,” while sweeping or wiping surfaces. It keeps me mindful. It makes the mundane magical.

🖤 Step 4: Mindfulness with My Daughter

When I can, I involve my daughter in small, age-appropriate moments of magic. She loves collecting flowers and rocks, and I’ll sometimes teach her how to make little offerings to nature. We look at the moon, talk about the stars, or pick a “color of the day” to wear.

Witchy Tip: You can be a witch and a mom at the same time. You don’t have to choose. You’re showing them how to connect to the earth, to their body, to their feelings, that’s magic in action.

💫 Final Thought: Magic Doesn’t Have to Be Loud

Some days, I get to do a full morning ritual. Other days, my magic is just lighting a candle and whispering “thank you” to the universe while sipping coffee.

But every day, I make space, even a little, to connect with myself, the energy around me, and the life I’m building.

Being a mom is a sacred role. So is being a witch. You’re allowed to be both.

The Moon Witch
